The Columbus Blue Jackets defeated Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime to claim their second Stanley Cup.
The Blue Jackets won their fifth straight game to finish the regular season with a record of 39-13-3 and move within one point of the Anaheim Ducks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Blue Jackets forward Evgeni Malkin scored his third goal of the season and Sergei Bobrovsky added an assist for the victory, which ends a four-game losing streak for Columbus.
It’s been a wild season for Columbus, which is playing the second half of a four game trip to Chicago.
The Blue Jackets are tied with the Blackhawks for the second-most points in the NHL.
The Flyers and Capitals are both on the brink of elimination, while the Blue Jackets will play the second game of a three-game road trip against the New York Islanders on Friday.
Columbus won the first game of the series 4-3 on Jan. 11.
The next game is Thursday.
